Together, we can continue to provide exceptional care to our community. Job Summary Lawrence County Memorial Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Patient Access Clerk for the Surgical Clinic. LCMH is the healthcare provider of choice with excellent customer service. We pride ourselves on exceeding all customers' expectations. Job Summary This position is responsible for greeting, registering, collecting payments from and directing/escorting patients in compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations and hospital policies and procedures. Is an ambassador of LCMH, cultivating a nurturing atmosphere of courtesy, respect, empathy, dignity and optimism.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of health care revenue cycle Understanding of insurance Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and write reports. Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manuals. Ability to record patient information. Requires clear speech and auditory acuity. Must have good communication skills in order to effectively deal with customers. Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and percentages. Must be able to calculate wait times of patients. Maintains complete confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates considerable initiative in performance of job duties. Ascertains appropriate information and prioritizes patients. Must use sound judgment in performing job functions. Must have ability to think critically to solve problems. Technical knowledge of software desired. Basic knowledge of communications hardware and software needed. Must be able to utilize the internet, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. Must be able to type efficiently. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, and decision making.
