Medical, Dental, Vision 457B and employer match for FT Employees Company paid STD and LTD Job Summary The MDH Behavioral Health Services Patient Access Specialist (PAS) is responsible for the following daily activities which include, but are not limited to, answering the telephone, monitoring Artera messaging system, receiving visitors, making appointments, data entry, Cerner, verifying insurance and completing prior authorization for treatment, Good Faith Estimates when required, Microsoft WORD and Excel, and establishing or maintaining already created statistical/record systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous secretarial experience required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Accurate spelling is a must. Knowledge of operation of office machines including computer. Knowledge of electronic medical record systems and record keeping. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office, Excel and Cerner.

Ability to handle incoming/outgoing telephone calls and visitors in an appropriate manner that will enhance and promote customer service. Absolute integrity and sufficient maturity to handle confidential aspects of the position. Ability to exercise tact, initiative and good judgment. Emotionally stable and mature. Capable of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and members of the community. A preference for routine, concrete and organized activities, but also must possess the ability to adapt to changes resulting from emergencies and schedules, staff or procedural changes. A commitment to strive for optimal skills and greater competencies in the area of office management and interpersonal relationships. Ability to work independently without close supervision. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patient populations (e.g. cultural diversity, ages from teen through geriatrics, hearing impaired, physical and mental disabilities, and variety of educational and cognitive levels).
