Description:
Pana Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated Patient Registration Representative to register inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary service patients while ensuring accurate demographic, insurance, physician, and financial information. Responsibilities include obtaining required signatures, completing insurance verification and Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaires, providing privacy notices, collecting payments when applicable, assisting patients with financial assistance options, and following Good Faith Estimate and Fair Patient Billing requirements. The position also provides switchboard coverage and assists patients, visitors, and callers with inquiries while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
Salary Range:
$18.08-$21.70 (based on experience)
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Previous healthcare or patient registration experience preferred. Strong typing, telephone, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to accurately enter and verify patient demographic, insurance, physician, and financial information. Ability to obtain required patient signatures and complete registration documentation accurately. Knowledge of HIPAA, patient privacy requirements, and confidentiality standards. Ability to understand and follow insurance verification, precertification, and payer requirements. Ability to collect patient payments and explain financial assistance options when appropriate. Ability to follow Good Faith Estimate and Fair Patient Billing requirements. Basic computer skills and ability to use office equipment, including computers, printers, fax machines, copiers, and calculators. Ability to learn and perform switchboard operations and hospital code procedures. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and staff. Ability to handle inquiries from patients, visitors, and callers efficiently and courteously. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and hospital policies. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to read, write, and understand English. Ability to remain professional and composed when handling difficult or sensitive situations. Ability to assist with departmental coverage, including breaks and lunches, as needed. Ability to sit for extended periods and perform duties requiring standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and assisting with patient transfers.
