Munster Eye Care Associates, P.C. is looking for a career-oriented individual who is motivated to grow within our company. Position Summary The Patient Services Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients seeking ophthalmic care. This role is responsible for answering incoming calls, assessing patient symptoms to determine urgency, scheduling appointments appropriately, registering new and returning patients, verifying insurance information, and providing exceptional customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality. The representative works closely with providers, technicians, and clinical staff to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Triage Answer high-volume incoming telephone calls in a courteous, professional, and compassionate manner. Assess patient concerns using established ophthalmic triage protocols. Identify urgent and emergent eye conditions and escalate calls to clinical staff or providers as appropriate. Document patient symptoms accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR). Provide patients with instructions based on provider-approved protocols. Coordinate same-day or urgent appointments when clinically indicated. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments according to provider availability and scheduling guidelines. Explain appointment preparation, required documentation, and office policies. Patient Registration Register new patients and update demographic information for established patients. Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations when applicable. Accurately enter patient information into the practice management system. Customer Service Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining professionalism and empathy. Respond to patient questions regarding appointments, referrals, directions, and general office procedures. Resolve patient concerns or route complex issues to appropriate personnel. Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical call center, ophthalmology practice, or healthcare registration preferred. Previous ophthalmology or optometry experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software. Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills. Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to remain calm and professional in urgent or stressful situations. Preferred Skills Knowledge of ophthalmic conditions, procedures, and common eye emergencies. Familiarity with insurance verification and prior authorization processes. Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.

Adaptability Pay:
From $18.00 per hour
