Job Description

Follows up on insurance, government, and worker compensation payers in regards to at risk and past due A/R. Assists all patients with insurance questions and billing questions and serves as back up to other collection staff. Collects payments on patient accounts, posts and issues receipts. Responsible for handling phone calls coming in to the business office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Documents patient account with notes on all phone and personal contacts. Checks status on claims for patients requesting follow up on their claim. Places telephone calls on outstanding A/R balances as directed by supervisor. Responds timely to messages left on voice mail. Pulls and researches EOB's to assist patients with questions on payments, network discounts, and copays which determines their balances. Directs and provides assistance to patients in a courteous and positive manner. Assists supervisor with duties and special projects daily. Collects money for hospital. Documents and forwards patient complaints to supervisor. Receives and documents phone messages for co-workers accurately and in a professional manner. Handles phone inquiries with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for confidentiality. Assists co-workers in the completion of daily tasks or special projects to support the department's efficiency. Researches, completes and documents refunds daily.
Education :
High School Diploma/GED required.
Experience:
Computer skills are required and business related experience required
