Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and provide outstanding customer service at the front desk, ensuring a positive first impression. Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks to facilitate smooth billing processes. Collect and process medical collections accurately, ensuring timely payments and follow-up on outstanding balances. Maintain and update patient records with precision, reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist clinical staff with medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to support billing and documentation. Manage phone inquiries using multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately. Support medical administrative functions such as filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records . Facilitate intake procedures for new patients, ensuring all necessary forms are completed accurately. Coordinate clinic operations by handling medical scheduling, appointment confirmations, and patient follow-up communications. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, including clinic or dental office experience preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software. Ability to review medical documentation thoroughly while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate recordkeeping and documentation review. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Strong communication skills with professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation. Office management experience including front desk duties, insurance verification, filing systems, and multi-line phone operation is highly valued.
