Job Description

Position Summary Western Maryland Vascular Institute is seeking a Part-Time Medical Office Assistant to support front desk and administrative operations in a busy outpatient vein clinic. This role is well-suited for candidates with prior medical office experience , including those with Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) training or clinical exposure , although certification is not required. Candidates who are comfortable working with patients, managing workflows, and using electronic medical records will be most successful in this role. Key Responsibilities Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls Schedule patient appointments and manage provider calendars Prepare and maintain patient charts and documentation Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and imaging Coordinate patient follow-ups and continuity of care Process incoming/outgoing faxes, emails, and forms Maintain organized filing systems (EMR and paper as needed) Order and track office and clinical supplies Provide administrative support to physicians and clinical staff Utilize EMR systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks) for patient data management Qualifications (Preferred) 1+ year medical office experience strongly preferred Experience with EMR/EHR systems (eClinicalWorks preferred) Knowledge of medical terminology CMA or clinical experience is a plus , but not required Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent communication and patient interaction skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting Education High school diploma or equivalent required Medical administrative or clinical training is a plus Why This Role Stands Out Predictable weekday schedule No nights Opportunity for additional hours Team-oriented, patient-focused environment
Pay:
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour Application Question(s): Are you able to work Mondays and Fridays from 8:00am to 4:00pm? Do you have experience obtaining prior authorizations for medical procedures?
