About Us Touching Angels Healthcare is a Maryland-licensed Residential Service Agency providing person-centered home care to adults, seniors, and pediatric clients across the greater Baltimore and Howard County area. The Maryland Department of Health licenses us, and the Office of Health Care Quality oversees us. We are a values-driven organization. The Role The Intake Coordinator is the first person a prospective client, family, or referral source speaks with. You own the path from first call to start of care: taking the referral, verifying eligibility and authorization, guiding the family through enrollment, and getting services started without delay. This is not a back-office role. You will be building and maintaining relationships with hospital discharge planners, Support Planners, physician practices, and community partners, and those relationships directly drive our ability to serve more clients. If you enjoy a mix of operational detail and people-facing work, this role has both. What You Will Do Receive, log, and evaluate referrals from hospitals, physician practices, Support Planners, discharge planners, and families, responding the same business day Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance coverage, benefit levels, and service limits Track authorization expirations and monitor eligibility so that no client loses coverage without warning Guide prospective clients and families through enrollment from first inquiry to start of care Serve as the agency's first point of receipt for client status changes, including reports of ineligibility, facility admissions, and requests to change service hours Chair the weekly Risk Management Meeting and track action items to completion Respond to medical record requests from State Nurses and Support Planners in line with HIPAA and agency policy Build and maintain referral source relationships, and identify new opportunities across our service area Maintain accurate client records and produce weekly and monthly intake reporting Participate in a weekly on-call cellphone rotation shared with the Care Coordination team, compensated at our standard on-call rate What We Are Looking For Required High school diploma or GED Two or more years of combined experience in healthcare administration, case management, intake or referral coordination, or healthcare sales and business development Working knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes Comfort initiating contact with referral sources and building professional relationships Strong customer service and telephone skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively with clients and families Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with accuracy in a deadline-driven environment Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping systems Ability to work onsite in Ellicott City and to satisfy a Maryland criminal history records check, reference and employment verification, and health screening Preferred Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, social work, business, or a related field Direct experience with Maryland Medicaid programs, particularly Community First Choice (CFC) and Community Personal Assistance Services (CPAS) Prior intake, referral management, or discharge planning experience in home care, home health, or a residential service agency Experience with AxisCare, LTSS, or a comparable home care scheduling and payer platform Working knowledge of COMAR 10.07.05 and Office of Health Care Quality requirements Bilingual Spanish and English Compensation and Benefits $50,000 to $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience Paid bi-weekly by direct deposit On-call compensation at our standard rate for participation in the weekly cellphone rotation Health, dental, and vision insurance available to full-time employees after the initial 90-day period 401(k) retirement plan after one year of continuous full-time employment Paid time off, sick and safe leave, and mental health days Paid holidays Schedule and Location Full-time, Monday through Friday, day shift Onsite at 3300 North Ridge Road, Suite 325, Ellicott City, MD 21043 This position is not eligible for remote work Occasional local travel within our service area for referral source outreach.
