Position:
Patient Access Registrar -
Orthopedic Practice Pay Rate:
$25.33/hr
Duration:
13 weeks, with potential to extend and convert to permanent employment
Expected Shift:
Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-4:30 PM | 40 hours/week 100%

ASAP Important Call Outs:
Patient-facing registration/front desk role supporting an outpatient orthopedic practice. Initial sourcing will target candidates with direct healthcare and Patient Access experience. eClinicalWorks experience is not required; training will be provided. Primary phone coverage is not a core responsibility because the practice is supported by a call center. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple patient-facing and administrative responsibilities. Potential to extend and/or convert to permanent employment.
Required Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience working within a healthcare environment. Minimum 1 year of experience in patient registration and/or insurance eligibility and benefits. Experience with patient check-in/check-out, demographic updates, insurance verification, payment collection, and related Patient Access functions. Experience working directly with patients in a customer service-focused environment.
Technical Skills:
Basic PC and office technology skills. Comfortable learning and navigating electronic health record and practice management systems. Ability to accurately enter and update demographic, insurance, and patient information. eClinicalWorks experience preferred but not required; training will be provided. Familiarity with standard office equipment and administrative systems.
Other Requirements:
Strong customer service and patient service skills. Technologically comfortable and able to learn new systems quickly. Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy. Some knowledge or training related to government payer rules and regulations. Some knowledge or training regarding third-party liability (TPL), Workers' Compensation, and other payment sources and liabilities. Strong attention to detail when handling demographic, insurance, registration, and payment information. Professional and courteous communication with patients, visitors, providers, and team members. Ability to work onsite in Rockville, MD, Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. Key Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors and provide professional, courteous front desk support. Register and pre-register patients for appointments and services. Complete patient check-in and check-out functions. Obtain, enter, review, and update patient demographic and insurance information accurately. Verify insurance information and identify registration or coverage issues requiring escalation. Obtain required patient signatures and documentation during registration and arrival. Collect patient responsibility, copayments, and other applicable payments. Process, balance, and post patient payments accurately. Support appointment scheduling and related front desk coordination. Assist with referral-related administrative activities as needed. Maintain accurate patient notes and documentation in the electronic health record. Support electronic filing, faxing, scanning, copying, and data entry. Coordinate with clinical and administrative team members to support efficient patient flow. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow applicable organizational policies and procedures. Manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and strong customer service.
