Job Description

Job Summary The Clerk A - Registration provides clerical support for Registration Services' operations, including assisting Registration Associates, serving in the Answer Center, and courteous customer service in online, over-the-phone, and face-to-face interactions. Schoolcraft is a comprehensive, open-door, community-based college. The mission of the College is to provide a transformational learning experience designed to increase the capacity of individuals and groups to achieve intellectual, social, and economic goals. Required Qualifications High school and some college credits related to the position. Three (3) years of clerical experience. General clerical skills, including accuracy in basic math, filing, proofreading, typing, spelling and data entry. Excellent customer service skills in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multitask and be flexible within the work environment. Ability to work with diverse publics, exhibiting patience and high-quality customer service skills to students, staff, and visitors. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in admissions and/or registration related activities. Experience working in a call center. Ability to understand and operate appropriate office equipment, including personal computers and working knowledge of department-specific software. Writing Skills:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Communication Skills:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Office Environment:
This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse (or applicable equipment) and telephone. This role may also involve standing and walking for periods of time, and the use of hands and moving objects on occasion, of up to 10-20 lbs.
