MEDICAL OFFICE CLERKS
for a full time, civil contract position at Whiteman AFB, MO (Monday to Friday from 0730 to 1630) SUMMARY This position provides clerical/administrative support in wards, clinics, or other clinical departments of a medical treatment facility. program assistant services in a wide range of organizational and business operations including but not limited to performing data collection, computation, interpretation, and presentation. Main responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to: Greeting patients/visitors at a front desk, information center, or office setting. Checks patients in and out using the electronic health system. Answering the main office phone line. Directing telephone calls to the appropriate section for assistance. Taking messages as required. Arranging and scheduling medical appointments; determining patient eligibility for services. Obtaining updates and filing medical records as needed. Explaining/processing intake forms. Organizing and researching patient records, extracting needed information, and reviewing records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency within established guidelines. Initiating and locating patient medical records as needed and ensuring the arrival of medical records before appointment(s). Obtaining documentation as requested by healthcare providers (test results, or documentation not yet filed in records). Performing other administrative and clerical duties in support of medical care and operational support. Creating appointment schedules and templates in the patient appointment computer system. Performing medical data entry from theMHS-GENESIS
into the electronic health record. Conducting end-of-day process at close of business and resolving any delinquent or pending appointments in the computer system. Tracking and assisting with tracking, diagnostic testing results. Providing hard copy results or entering requests for telephone consultation with appropriate staff members.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS A
fully qualified typist with a minimum of 50 WPM is required. General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills. General office administrative and clerical skills to perform receptionist duties and answer telephones. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Education. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency. Medical terminology desired. Experience. At least 6 months of experience in office setting.UNIQUE MILITARY HEALTH CARE SYSTEMS/PROCEDURES
Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS) and/orMHS GENESIS
Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). Military Filing System- by sponsor social security, terminal digit order, color-coded and blocked filing system.
