Responsibilities Greet patients warmly at the front desk, manage patient check-in/check-out processes, and schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Verify patient insurance coverage, process medical claims, and perform collections for unpaid balances in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare and review medical documentation, including care plans, clinical notes, and billing codes such as
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
for accurate reimbursement. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently, ensuring all patient information is up-to-date and securely stored in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies. Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks including documentation review, coding procedures, and supporting medical records management. Handle phone communication professionally by scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and providing excellent customer service with proper phone etiquette. Maintain a clean and organized office environment by filing documents, managing medical records, performing data entry with 10-key typing skills, and supporting general clerical duties such as faxing and scanning. Skills Proven experience in medical office administration with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks. Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare billing, health information management, and medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT). Excellent computer skills with familiarity in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication purposes. Exceptional patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; bilingual abilities are a plus. Solid understanding of clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA compliance) and healthcare regulations. Experience working in clinics or dental offices is highly desirable; familiarity with front desk operations and medical scheduling is essential. Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail during documentation review and billing procedures.
