Medical Office Insurance Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a Medical Office Insurance specialist that will be responsible for assisting with administrative and office tasks. The position will handle in-person and over the phone encounters with patients regarding their accounts, claims creation and processing, payment positing, scheduling appointments, creating telephone encounters for nurses and providers, verifying insurance, prior authorizations and referrals, checking patients in/out, collecting copays, collecting insurance and health information, and entering relevant data into our electronic health records, processing documents, as well as other duties as assigned. Answering phones, directing calls appropriately, providing accurate and complete information. Performs computerized scheduling of appointments. Initiating telephone communication to confirm appointments. Processing the patient financial information which includes obtaining/up-dating their insurance and demographic information. Process credit card payments. Post Patient and Insurance payments. Balance/Close receipts for the day. Contact the insurance companies by phone and online to obtain procedure authorization/referrals and faxing appropriate medical records. Contact insurance companies to obtain eligibility and benefits. Claims creation and processing Communicate appointment preparation details.
Job Requirements:
1-2 Years relative work experience. Willingness to learn and grow with position. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Possess great phone etiquette, with a smile and friendly tone in your voice. Organized and Detail oriented. Thrive in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable communicating in writing and in person. Self-Motivated, Reliable, Team Player. Time management and ability to set priorities. EHR experience. eClinicalWorks experience a plus. Familiarity with medical terminology a plus Billing and coding experience a plus.
