Full-Time | Onsite (40 Hours/Week) No Weekends Are you passionate about helping patients and providing exceptional customer service? We are seeking a Patient Service Specialist to join a busy healthcare clinic in Northfield, NJ. This role is ideal for someone with medical office experience who enjoys working directly with patients, managing administrative responsibilities, and contributing to a positive patient experience. Due to the high patient volume at this location, candidates with prior healthcare, medical office, insurance, or workers' compensation experience are strongly preferred. What You'll Do Greet and register patients upon arrival Explain visit expectations and assist patients with check-out and follow-up scheduling Schedule appointments in person and over the phone Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and manage payer approvals Collect co-pays and process patient payments accurately Prepare and review patient intake paperwork Educate patients on financial responsibilities and insurance coverage Communicate with attorney offices, insurance carriers, translation services, and internal teams Maintain accurate patient records and documentation Support quality assurance initiatives and compliance standards Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office environment Qualifications Required Previous healthcare, medical office, patient registration, front desk, or patient services experience Understanding of insurance verification, authorizations, payers, and patient financial responsibility Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to professionally handle difficult or emotional patient interactions Comfortable navigating a desktop computer and Microsoft Office applications Experience answering and managing a multi-line phone system Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Preferred Workers' compensation experience Knowledge of insurance claims and authorization processes Medical terminology knowledge Prior experience in physical therapy, medical practice, outpatient clinic, or healthcare administration settings Technical Skills Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Typing speed of 40+ WPM Basic bookkeeping and accounts receivable knowledge Proficiency with office equipment including printers, copiers, and fax machines Schedule Must be able to work the following schedule without modification:
