Job Description
MAIN FUNCTION
: Arrange for the efficient and orderly registration of outpatients, ensure that accurate patient information is collected and that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures.REPORTS TO
: Patient Access SupervisorDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: A. Accurately performs the technical duties of the position. 1. Interview all patients and/or their representatives and register the necessary patient demographics, verify all insurance information. Ensure the patient and/or patient representative understand and signs consent and inform patients of their financial responsibility. 2. Collect Copays 3. Verify and input required insurances. 4. Record and maintain all documents related to the patient's account. 5. Works in scope as a registration counselor, giving no clinical advice or direction. B. Assists management in anticipating the needs of the department, initiating new ideas, and setting departmental goals. 8. Meet with Patient access supervisor to review problem accounts and respond timely to emails regarding account follow up. 9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Patient Access supervisor. C. Exemplifies a positive attitude and customer service excellence in the interactions with patients, families, and co-workers. 10. Anticipates and understands the needs of the customer both internally and externally. Delivers products and services that meet or exceed the customer's expectations and needs. 11. Promote teamwork within the organization and department. 12. Understands and adjusts to changes in priorities, circumstances, direction and personalities. D. Begins workday on time and is diligent; works well under pressure; and successfully manages a large number of conflicting simultaneous demands. E. Participate in continuing education programs, conferences, job related in-services, and/or workshops to maintain current knowledge and skill. 18. Attends and participates in staff meetings. 19. Assumes responsibility for competence and professional growth. F. Reinforces the mission, goals, and objectives of the hospital. 20. Maintain co-worker and patient confidentiality. 21. Abide by all hospital and departmental policies. 21. Respond to Hospital Codes as assigned. 22. Works in scope as Registration counselor, giving no clinical advice or direction.EDUCATION
: High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical terminology preferred. Typing skills required. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions and established procedures required.EXPERIENCE
: Computer experience required.CONTACTS
: Frequent with patients, relatives, Medical Staff, Nursing units, social services, Administration, Volunteer Office, all ancillary departments.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: Stands, walks and sits. Lifts computer forms (up to 30 pounds); pushes patients (up to 400 pounds). Near visual acuity and hearing required; continuous typing and writing.WORKING CONDITIONS
: Exposed daily to the general public; continuous interruptions.HAZARDS :
Exposure to communicable diseases.Pay:
