Full Job Description Summary:
Responsible for working the check-in and/or sign-out side of the desk, as well as being courteous but firm with patients, families, and vendors by performing the following duties.
Specific Tasks:
Open the front end of the office. Greet patients and checks them in. Take pictures of insurance for patients and loads it into our EHR systems. Verify all information is correct within all systems if not updated. Review patient portal, health and connections consents, and HIPAA. Complete chart and marks as waiting when chart is ready. Answer phones. Schedule appointments. Remove messages from machine and takes care of accordingly. Scan documents into the computer and distributes as needed. Collect copays and past due balances. Run insurance eligibility days prior to finding errors and changes. Get chart ready for next day organized by provider. Distribute pathology reports with coordinating bill to correct provider. Activate patient portal accounts. Clean up waiting room at the end of the day. Send transfer of care notes, melanoma continuation of care, and Mohs' referrals. Send faxes to other providers as directed. File away closed encounters into appropriate day folder on a weekly basis. Watch stock of office supplies and notifies practice manager when running low. Responsible for all transactions for skin care/check out. Clean workstation at end of word day. Stock bathrooms with paper supplies and soap as needed.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
