Registrar Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED 3 years of clerical experience Customer service experience Strong telephone, computer, keyboard, and communication skills Data entry speed of 4,500 keystrokes Knowledge of health insurance benefits and requirements Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding Spanish or Mandarin fluency preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and register patients in a professional and courteous manner. Collect and accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information. Pre-register patients and obtain medical record numbers when required. Verify insurance eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, and other insurance plans. Schedule and maintain daily patient appointments while coordinating available resources. Coordinate medical records, charts, laboratory results, and radiology information. Schedule medical procedures and coordinate with referring offices and internal departments. Obtain physician requisitions, authorizations, and required documentation. Verify third-party eligibility, determine patient responsibility, and obtain necessary authorizations. Explain financial obligations, payment options, Medicaid eligibility, and charity care programs to patients. Collect co-payments and fees, issue receipts, and maintain accurate financial records. Assist with statistical reports, data verification, and record updates. Provide work direction and on-the-job training to assigned staff. Assist with performance evaluations and other personnel-related activities as assigned. #
