Job Title:
Patient Access Advisor Job Summary:
Oneida Health is actively seeking a dedicated Patient Access Advisor to join our team for night shifts (3pm - 11pm) on the Hospital's Switchboard and Main Registration desk. This pivotal role involves coordinating, prioritizing, and completing front-end patient registration activities, ranging from pre-registration to patient discharge. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and computer skills, ensuring accurate and efficient patient record management. This position includes scheduled hours every other weekend.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect detailed information for the patient record. Demonstrate care and concern when interacting with and informing customers. Protect confidentiality/privacy and avoid gossip in verbal, written, and electronic forms of communication or information sharing. Demonstrate friendliness when greeting all customers. Provide helpful assistance in anticipating and responding to the needs of customers (e.g., escorting, directing, and/or answering questions). Express ideas clearly, concisely, and respectfully in written and verbal formats. Demonstrate effective communication. Communicate identified issues and concerns in a constructive manner and participate in generating ideas and solutions for improvements. Respond in a timely and appropriate way to verbal and written requests. Resolve conflict in a constructive manner. Accurately search databases for patient information. Complete registration by verifying information for established patients or entering information for a new patient prior to discharge. Collect co-pays as appropriate and document in the account notes if co-pay is not collected. Appropriately distribute registration paperwork according to departmental procedures.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
Experience:
1 year of healthcare experience (Preferred).
Physical Requirements:
The role involves prolonged periods of sitting, extensive computer usage, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
