Job Description

Summary:
The Coordinator, Perioperative Services (OR Scheduler) performs serves as a liaison between staff, physicians, the auxiliary departments, and the public to provide an optimum level of care to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. In addition, this position requires the ability to safeguard and maintain professional ethics regarding patient information.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Answers telephone in a respectful manner, accepts OR bookings and accurately transcribes them in to the EPIC system to schedule perioperative procedures. Notifies surgeon's office of missing documentation. Coordinates surgical procedures requiring x-ray examinations including fluoroscopy and consults with OR Manager regarding conflicts. Adjusts the OR schedule as needed and notifies the appropriate departments of cancellations or changes in the OR schedule. Performs clerical functions within the department including faxing vendors and filing data in the appropriate location. Handles multiple projects and responsibilities. Maintains a professional, customer friendly work environment with good communication skills. Creates innovative responses to problem solving and acts in a team-oriented, interdisciplinary manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Scheduling experience preferred.
