Job Description

Lorain County Health & Dentistry is seeking a compassionate and organized Behavioral Health Intake Coordinator to serve as the first point of contact for patients seeking behavioral health and psychiatry services. This role is responsible for patient intake, screening, scheduling, care coordination, and supporting access to timely, high-quality behavioral health care within an integrated healthcare setting. Key Responsibilities Manage behavioral health referrals and patient inquiries. Conduct intake screenings and collect demographic, insurance, and clinical information. Schedule behavioral health and psychiatry appointments. Coordinate referrals, waitlists, and same-day access when appropriate. Identify urgent situations and follow crisis intervention protocols. Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to patients and families. Maintain accurate documentation and patient records in the EHR. Support quality improvement initiatives and patient engagement efforts. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or patient access. Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field. FQHC or integrated care experience. Experience with NextGen or other EHR systems. Bilingual Spanish, preferred. Physical Demands Extensive use of computer and telephone. Some lifting of supplies and equipment up to 25 lbs. 25% walking or standing, 75% sitting at a desk.
