Details:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.

JOB SUMMARY
Registers inpatients and outpatients and performs the pre-service data requirements efficiently and accurately by entering the required information into the Stillwater Medical Patient System. Uses good customer skills when conversing with patients, both face-to-face and over the phone and presents a professional image of Stillwater Medical. Provides and explains all required documents to the patient and answers their questions. Informs of, and/or collects pre-payments from patients, and provides appropriate payment options to patients including patient payment contracts and applications for financial assistance. Acts as backup to Switchboard Operations and PAS ED Intake Clerk if working in the ED. Uses initiative to maintain the registrar's administrative responsibilities and to solve registration-related problems. Supports the resolution of PAS and other department staff problems as they occur. Keeps ancillary departments, and inpatient floor staff, informed of problems, delays, and other situations that could impact the delivery of efficient, competent, and compassionate care. Supports new employee training efforts and coaches colleagues as appropriate. Represents PAS on assigned teams. Keeps registration manager and/or PAS director informed of patient complaints resolved and resolutions of problem situations. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities and fills in for lead as assigned. Takes on-call responsibility as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or equivalent. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Excellent customer services skills. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to type 40 wpm. Previous experience as a PAS Registration Representative. Completion of the progression requirements for PAS Registration Specialist.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, patients, and families. Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections. Able to hear to converse with others on the phone. Able to stand/walk for extended periods of time throughout the work schedule, with some lifting and bending. Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to prepare and read documents accurately. Demonstrates adequate stamina to deal with stressful situations and to complete the necessary work schedule. Able to work in latex burdened environment. Possess fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to manage office equipment.
