Office Assistant responsibilities vary depending on the size and capacity of the medical facility they work for as well as the services it offers. Their main goal is to perform all front desk duties but not limited to medical testing prior to the patient seeing the doctor.
Their typical day-to-day responsibilities include:
Answering incoming calls and scheduling appointments Check in/Check out procedures Insurance verification Creating of invoices and collecting copayments at time of appointment Taking and inputting medical history into EMR system for patient Communicate to the doctor any information gathered that may be relevant to the exam Visual Acuity Testing Color Vision Testing Depth perception testing OPD Read glasses on Marco autolensometer NCT, measure patient pressures Optos photos Must be computer savvy and comfortable using multiple screens at one time. EMR experience a plus. This position is 50% front desk and 50% clinical.
