Job Description

Patient Service Rep Needed! Robert Half is partnering with a respected healthcare organization to identify a Patient Service Representative for a busy primary care practice in Plumsteadville, PA. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional patient experience through appointment scheduling, front desk operations, registration, insurance verification, and patient support. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, previous medical office experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Experience with Epic/EPIC is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Patient Registration & Scheduling Answer incoming patient calls and respond to inquiries professionally and efficiently Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments while maintaining accuracy Register patients and update demographic and insurance information in the electronic medical record (EMR) Manage patient check-in and check-out processes Collect copayments and required patient documentation, including insurance cards, referrals, and signatures Communicate appointment delays and patient flow updates to patients and clinical staff Insurance & Administrative Support Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient demographics Obtain referrals, authorizations, and coordinate benefits as needed Maintain accurate patient records and documentation Support daily administrative functions to ensure efficient office operations Customer Service Deliver an exceptional patient experience through professional and compassionate interactions Anticipate patient needs and resolve concerns promptly Build positive relationships with patients, visitors, providers, and office staff Compliance & Confidentiality Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times Ensure compliance with federal, state, and healthcare regulatory requirements Qualifications 1+ years of medical office, patient access, patient registration, medical receptionist, or healthcare customer service experience preferred Experience scheduling patient appointments in a healthcare setting Insurance verification and authorization experience strongly preferred Strong computer and data entry skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment EPIC experience highly preferred High school diploma or equivalent required Schedule Typical weekly schedule includes: One late shift per week: 12:00 PM
  • 8:30 PM Three daytime shifts between 7:45 AM
  • 5:30 PM Rotating Saturday coverage every fourth week (8:00 AM

  • Previous experience in patient services, customer support, medical front office work, or a related healthcare administrative role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Working knowledge of appointment scheduling, insurance eligibility review, referrals, and authorization processes.
  • Experience using Epic software, EMR systems, or other electronic medical records platforms.
  • Understanding of HIPAA requirements, confidentiality standards, and healthcare compliance practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, resolve issues efficiently, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with patient demographic entry, copay handling, and benefit-related administrative functions.
  • Experience supporting healthcare screenings or related documentation, including coordination of candidate screening requirements, is a plus.
