What You'll Do As a Patient Services Representative, you will be one of the first UPMC team members patients and their families encounter when arriving in the Emergency Department. Your role is critical in creating a welcoming experience while ensuring accurate registration and financial information is collected.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting patients with the registration and check-in process. Obtaining and updating demographic, insurance, and other required patient information. Verifying insurance coverage and confirming eligibility. Collecting and recording patient payments, including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Securing required signatures for consent to treat, financial responsibility, and other necessary documentation. Providing exceptional customer service while supporting patients during urgent and often stressful situations. Maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with healthcare regulati ons throughout the registration process.
