This role requires immediate availability and full dedication during scheduled working hours. Candidates must be able to hit the ground running with minimal onboarding and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information. Key Responsibilities Identify trauma patients for inclusion in the Trauma Registry. Abstract trauma patient data using TraumaBase. Assign ICD-10 and AIS codes accurately. Calculate Injury Severity Scores (ISS). Maintain trauma registry quality and data integrity, including validating data and resolving edits. Support NTDB, TQIP, NORTR, and state reporting requirements. Identify and document Performance Improvement (PI) opportunities. Generate necessary reports for the Trauma Committee and leadership. Maintain compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and regulatory standards. Required Qualifications & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associate Degree in Allied Health, Anatomy & Physiology, HIM, or a related field preferred). 3-5+ years of Trauma Registry experience. Direct TraumaBase experience (Mandatory; candidates without TraumaBase experience will not be considered). 2+ years of AIS coding within a Trauma Registry. Proven experience with ICD-10 coding and ISS calculation. Ability to work independently with minimal training.
Preferred Certifications:
CSTR, RHIT, CCS, or AIS Certification Technical Skills TraumaBase (Required) Microsoft Word and Excel EPIC and Cerner (Preferred)salary: $24.99 - $25 per hourshift: Firstwork hours: 8 AM - 5
