Job Description

Summary As a Patient Services Representative, you will be essential in delivering outstanding patient care and administrative support within our medical office. Your core skills in medical office experience and patient service will enable you to manage front desk operations effectively, while your proficiency in EMR systems, including eClinicalWorks, ensures accurate medical records management. You will also utilize your knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology to maintain compliance and facilitate smooth communication with patients and healthcare professionals. Patient Service Representative responsibilities include:
Greeting patients Demonstrating courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and families Monitoring patient wait times Keeping patients informed of appointment status Ensuring efficient and professional telephone communication Answering and routing calls accordingly Obtaining patient contact details and insurance information Verifying patient insurance information Assisting patients in filling out history and consent forms when necessary Managing incoming physical and electronic correspondence Checking patients out and scheduling follow up appointments Collecting payments and co- payments for all services Noting all no-shows and cancellations in EMR prior to end of day Calling no-shows to assist in rescheduling Scheduling appointments for patients using eClinicalWorks Scanning and filing documents into EMR Working as a team member within the patient services department and all other departments Documenting work processes as required Staying up-to-date with office workflows and policies Additional duties as assigned by office manager
ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining professional appearance and personal conduct at all times Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management Effectively coping with typical job stress KSA's Basic knowledge of medical office procedures Basic knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy rule Knowledge of EMR's, primarily eClinicalWorks (eCW) Tactful and discreet Detail oriented Collaborative attitude Critical thinker Open-minded towards change Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette Ability to use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation Ability to speak clearly and distinctly Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities and duties Ability to multitask, sometimes under pressure Ability to manage stress Ability to be graceful in stressful situations Ability to ensure and maintain timely patient flow
PHYSICAL SKILLS
Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted occasionally throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Work Experience One (1) to two (2) years related experience in healthcare, medical office, or hospital setting preferred MA certification is a plus Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) is desired
