JOB SUMMARY
The Registrar serves as a primary point of contact for patients, families, visitors, and staff while providing accurate and efficient patient registration services. This position obtains and verifies demographic and insurance information, collects applicable payments, and ensures patients are appropriately registered and directed to receive medical services. The Registrar delivers excellent customer service while using critical thinking, sound judgment, and effective communication to address questions and support a positive patient experience.
DUTIES:
Registers patients accurately and efficiently for scheduled, outpatient, emergency, or other applicable healthcare services according to established procedures. Obtains, verifies, and updates patient demographic, insurance, and financial information to ensure complete and accurate registration records. Validates insurance coverage and identifies information necessary to support appropriate billing and reimbursement processes. Collects applicable copayments, deductibles, deposits, or other patient payments and accurately documents financial transactions. Greets and assists patients, family members, visitors, and staff while providing directions, routing, or escort assistance as appropriate. Responds to patient and visitor questions and appropriately refers clinical, financial, or service-related concerns to the appropriate department or team member. Communicates patient financial information clearly and professionally, presenting essential information in a concise and understandable manner. Maintains accuracy, confidentiality, professionalism, and excellent customer service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
