Job Description
Provides outstanding customer service in varied levels of assistance to families and visitors, typically during on and off business office hours. The Customer Service/Admitting Clerk provides timely, accurate information and direction to visitors while protecting patients' rights to privacy, monitors security of entrance/exit doors, answers the phone and performs filing or other unskilled business office functions as directed, and participates in activities as assigned. 1. Creates accurate and thorough registration records for each patient visit (outpatient, inpatient and ER). Secures appropriate signatures, financial information and documents. Identifies and collects patient balance money. Screens for payer medical necessity requirements and benefit eligibility on appropriate accounts. 2. Coordinates admission reservations and bed placement with nursing. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and physicians. Files charges on ED patients and other patients according to guidelines given by auditors and as required by federal and state guidelines. Supervised by the Business Office Manager.
Job Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Previous work experience in customer service and general clerical/office procedures. Ability to perform independently, maintains records as appropriate. Minimal one-year experience in a hospital or medical office/clinic preferred. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Provide excellent customer service. Must possess basic computer knowledge.Reasonable Accommodations:
