Job Description

Job Summary:
Primary responsibilities are admission of inpatient, observation, outpatient surgery patients, and outpatient ancillary services.
Job Qualifications- Education:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Personal Job-Related Skills:
Familiar with operating personal computers and knowledge of general clerical duties.
Licensure, Registry or Certification:
None required.
Experience:
One-year previous medical clerk experience and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
Technical Training:
None required.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
(With or without the aid of mechanical devices) 1. Position requires intermittent walking, sitting and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching required with the lifting up to 20 pounds and occasional heavy lifting in supporting or moving patients that may suddenly become weak or helpless. 2. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. 3. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. 4. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met. 5. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, personnel, and support agencies. 6. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of patients during emergency situations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Admit inpatient, observation and outpatient surgery patients during normal business hours with assistance from Insurance Clerk 2) Admit outpatients with assistance of Collection Clerk, Switchboard Operator and ER Clerk. 3) Pre-certifies all inpatients, observations, surgeries, and specialty clinic exams. 4) Inputs patient information and distributes paper work to the appropriate area. 5) Compiles information and prepares the monthly medical record statistics report. 6) Prepares Daily Census Report. 7) Helps in other areas when employees are absent (ER Clerk/Switchboard Operator).
Other Significant Requirements:
1) Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. (per HIPAA guidelines) 2) Performs other duties as deemed necessary by department manager, CFO and hospital CEO. 3) Adheres to Clay County Memorial Hospital personnel policies

Directly responsible to Business Office Manager or, in their absence, the
