  • Job Summary
  • The Registrar supports patient care by accurately capturing and verifying demographic and insurance information through both in-person and telephone interactions. This role ensures a seamless registration process by scheduling procedures, securing necessary authorizations, and maintaining complete and organized patient records, all while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Essential Functions
  • + Interacts with patients and their families to address questions and provide courteous, timely assistance.
+ Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs. + Schedules patient procedures as required and pre-registers scheduled patients by obtaining accurate demographic information. + Verifies insurance eligibility using designated applications, captures correct health insurance details, and secures necessary authorizations and verifications for services. + Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable. + Communicates operative reports daily to appropriate physician offices. + Compiles and organizes registration documentation to ensure completion of patient medical records. + Collects patient co-pays or deductibles when applicable and informs patients of financial obligations. + Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and assists with resolving insurance-related questions. + Carefully documents on forms if the patient is unable to sign the consent authorization forms, or why a family member signs the forms and has nursing sign off if the patient is unable to sign. + Places an armband on each patient before the patient leaves the department to ensure proper identification of the patient throughout their stay. + Answers and returns phone calls, addressing questions with professionalism and courtesy. + Performs other duties as assigned. + Maintains regular and reliable attendance. + Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Qualifications
  • + Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred + 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required + 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • + Knowledge of insurance verification and basic medical terminology.
+ Ability to maintain accuracy and attention detail in a fast-paced environment. + Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and registration software. + Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately. + Effective interpersonal skills to work with patients, families and healthcare teams.
