The Prior-Authorization Specialist is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations for all procedural orders by successfully completing the authorization process. This position is part of a collaborative work team. The ideal candidate will communicate directly with appropriate clinical services, and/or insurance companies to coordinate prior authorizations. Once prior authorizations are obtained, you'll communicate with the patient to schedule.
Duties include:
Scheduling Requesting, tracking, and obtaining pre-authorization from insurance carriers within time allotted for medical services Requesting, following up, and securing pre-authorizations prior to services being performed Learning which procedures require pre-authorization with different insurance companies. Clearly documents all communications and contacts with providers, insurance companies, and the patients Interacts with patients, physicians, office staff, or representatives to obtain required authorization information Interacts with insurance payers to provide essential information for pre-authorization. Inputs authorization information, patient demographic data, insurance carrier information, and other essential admission information into a database Maintains performance measures determined reasonable for the position Communicating any insurance changes or trends among your team Specific knowledge/skill requirements: Effectively and professionally communicate with patients and/or insurance companies Multi-tasking Customer service skills Phone etiquette Basic computer skills
Shift:
The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 08:00 am-4:30 pm and Friday 08:00 am-2:00 pm in our Provo office. This is a fun and dynamic work environment! Never work another night or weekend!
