Position Summary The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for sending, receiving, and filing of medical records. This position corresponds with patients, physician offices, insurance providers, and other entities to ensure efficient and accurate transmittal and accessibility of documents. The clerk ensures that guidelines for
PHI/HIPAA
are followed and assists as necessary to meet meaningful use measures.
Hours :
7:30 am - 5:00pm Roles and Responsibilities CEP Medical Records maintains information across three organizations with multiple clinic locations. Distributes ALL faxes through EHR system in a timely manner, ensuring attention to details and accuracy according to HIPPA. Make outgoing calls as needed to obtain patient, provider or billing information. Receives and responds to incoming calls, emails, tasks and Teams messaging. Create New Patient charts as needed with attention to details/accuracy. Responsible for processing ALL requests for medical records in compliance with
CEP/HIPPA
guidelines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to federal, state and HIPPA guidelines regarding privacy of patient health information. Assist medical records staff throughout all sites when needed or time allows within your daily duties. Other duties as assigned. Experience Requirement Requires a minimum of two years' experience in healthcare. Requires excellent communication skills and customer service. Requires exceptional multitasking and prioritization skills. Previous electronic health records experience preferred. Maintain professionalism and ensure operational efficiency. Ability to work independently and demonstrate great time management skills. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to stay focused.
