FT, 80 hrs/pp, 1.0 FTE; varies as scheduled. (2 positions)
Job Summary:
Responsible for checking insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations for outgoing specialist visits, procedures, and testing. Ensuring all incoming referrals for office visits, procedures, and testing have been authorized and scheduled. Additionally, the referral coordinator's responsibilities include appointment coordination, patient communication, and registering patients. Will work together with other departments and/or organizations to assure all necessary patient information is provided and/or obtained, and in electronic format whenever possible. Ensures all patient referrals are monitored for loop closure; determine patients attended appointments or not and consultation notes have been received or sent. Education and/or
Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or GED. One-year medical experience with exposure to insurance verification or referral authorization fundamentals. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD codes. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally. Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner. Ability to work in an environment of continuous change. Ability to manage priorities and work under deadlines.
Compensation & Benefits Pay Range:
