Job Description

MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC
Part-time RECEPTIONIST/Patient Account Representative Our small mental health clinic seeks an experienced receptionist who has also worked with insurance and patient accounts. The preferred candidate has a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in this role at a previous mental health/medical practice
Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
Answers multi-line telephones courteously, assists callers, and documents clearly Verifies new client insurance eligibility, inputs demographic information, sends and receives intake forms, schedules new appointments Verifies client information, checks clients in or out promptly, schedules follow-up appointments Collects client copays, coinsurances, and/or balances confidently Maintains therapists' schedules Demonstrates experience with electronic medical record systems, Word and Excel computer programs, and accurate data entry Reviews accounts for overdue insurance or patient payments Manages accounts in collections; manages discharge reports Assists billing manager with aged accounts and other tasks Uses and oversees fax/printer, scanner, and other office machines Addresses medical record requests and other office needs Receives, sorts, and routes phone messages, mail, and faxes Maintains files and records Other clerical duties as needed such as filing, photocopying, collating, and completing special assignments Maintains office supplies, forms, and office stationery Maintains a tidy appearance of the office and waiting room
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with daily clinic routines Experience with health insurance & basic billing/AR practices Professional presentation, respectful, caring approach toward clients and staff Demonstrates initiative, willingness to learn, a positive attitude, honesty, and integrity Team-orientation with office staff and owner Calm approach to problem-solving and stressful situations Uses excellent written and oral communication skills Manages time and priorities effectively Strong organization, attention to detail, accurate data entry, and excellent computer skills Understands HIPAA guidelines and maintains confidentiality
