Patient Care Specialist - Cardiac Stepdown 6028- (Full Time)

Job Description

St. Mary's Medical Center is currently seeking a Full Time Patient Care Specialist for our Cardiac Stepdown Unit. The Patient Care Specialist assists in providing patient care activities for which employee has been prepared and in conformance with Medical Center policy and procedures, functions under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse.



Verbal ability required to communicate with patients and understand instructions received from nursing staff; manual dexterity required to use hands easily and skillfully while aiding patients. BLS required. In addition to High School Diploma or GED, must meet one of the following criteria:

1. Successful completion of a multi-skilled technician program which includes EKG, phlebotomy and direct patient care. Certification must be valid and current.

2. Successful completion of Certified Nurse Aide training program. Certification must be valid and current in the state of West Virginia. Upon hire, within 6 months, must successfully complete an EKG and phlebotomy program.

3. EKG and Phlebotomy training with patient experience in physician office/clinical setting.

4. Graduate from an approved school of practical nursing. Currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of West Virginia. High School Diploma/GED required. In addition to one of the criteria in the requirements section.
