Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for managing patient referrals, ensuring seamless communication between providers, insurance companies, and patients. Your expertise will help facilitate timely access to specialized care while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality and healthcare regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to improved patient outcomes through efficient referral processes and exceptional customer service. Duties Coordinate and process patient referrals by verifying insurance coverage, obtaining necessary authorizations, and ensuring all documentation complies with healthcare policies. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate smooth referral workflows. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems, accurately documenting referral details, medical records, and correspondence. Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and prior authorization requirements using industry-standard tools and systems. Maintain knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and medical coding standards such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to ensure compliance. Assist with medical billing and insurance verification processes related to referrals and patient accounts. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries promptly and professionally while maintaining a positive experience throughout the referral process. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with familiarity in medical terminology and records management. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance prior authorization procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Understanding of medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), medical billing, insurance verification, and health insurance policies. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated customer service skills with a professional demeanor and strong communication abilities. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies and adherence to HIPAA standards is essential. Experience working in dental or medical offices is preferred but not required; familiarity with office experience enhances suitability for this role.
