A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

FT, Day- RRT
BLS, ACLS, PALS
- RRT Highly preferred
- 5+ years RT experience required.
- Previous PICU and/or pediatric critical care respiratory therapy experience.
- Previous charge Therapist, Lead Therapist, Educator, Preceptor, or other leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Expert in mechanical ventilation management, HFOV, JET, nitric oxide, and advanced respiratory support modalities in pediatric patients.

Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care, required; Bachelor's degree preferredLicenses/Certifications:
Current State of Texas RCP license Registered Respiratory Therapist Certified in Basic Life Support Additional specialty certification from the NBRC, preferred Experience / Knowledge /Skills:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience Five (5) years of critical care experience, preferred Effective oral and written communication skills Principal Accountabilities Plans, coordinates, and directs all activities between the interdisciplinary team to direct and facilitate departmental throughput in order to attain positive outcomes. Coordinates with nursing and ancillary departments, such as lab and radiology to ensure proper turn-around times. Acts as a liaison, to departmental staff, medical personnel, patients and family members; assist in any patient care concerns, issues and complaints; conducts daily leadership rounding on assigned unit. Utilizes critical thinking and sound clinical judgment and works autonomously to solve problems; escalates issues or notifies department leaders of significant occurrences, intervention, or delays, as appropriate. Acts as a mentor/coach to assigned staff and provides input into the annual performance review of those staff members. Participates in a systemic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement and desired client-centered outcomes. Considers the diverse needs of each patient through the entire continuum of care, providing and ensuring the highest level of service according to established service standards, optimizing the patient experience. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
