A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Mile Radius Rule Applies FLOAT:
Client reserves the right to float or reassign Personnel to other areas of practice within their clinical competence to fulfill the scheduled guaranteed hours and within thirty-five (35) miles of their originally assigned facility (unless otherwise agreed to in such Personnel's individual assignment confirmation).
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in
Cardiopulmonary Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of pediatric experience required NICU experience (Level III or IV): Minimum 2 years Emergency Department experience required (can include float/cross-cover) Previous travel experience required
Licensure & Certification Requirements Licensure:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Required Certifications:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Preferred Qualifications
  • NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty) certification Additional Unit-Specific Information
Environment:
Small unit with a broad skill mix, ranging from seasoned staff to new grads
    NICU Capability:
    Up to 6 ventilated patients
      Collaboration:
      Strong multidisciplinary teamwork required
        Best Fit Traveler:
        • Pediatric experience
        • Comfortable floating and supporting where needed
        • Former pediatric hospital experience
        • Team player with teaching willingness (RRT students)
        • Variable weekend requirements to fill staffing needs. May be asked to move shifts to cover needs as well. RTO & Vaccination Policy
        • No RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
        Seasonal Influenza Vaccine:
        • Medical and religious exemptions accepted
