PRIMARY FUNCTION
This role is for the respiratory therapist who is a clinical and professional leader at the bedside. The therapist advances evidence-based practices, leads departmental initiatives, and mentors others to achieve and grow in the role of the professional respiratory therapist.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and collaborates with Staff Development Specialist and Critical Care Coordinator to establish critical care practice guidelines, policies and procedures. Reviews and monitors respiratory care staffs critical care skills, oversee the activities of staff rotating to the specialty service area, and provide feedback to management team. Serves as a resource person to respiratory therapists, nurses, and physicians with respect to respiratory equipment or technology, and provides in-servicing as needed. Serves as a resource person for research and process improvement initiatives. Engages with physicians in specialty service area. Performs or assists with specialized procedures particular to the specialty service area. Serve as a role model by demonstrating core values in all interactions. Creates and builds positive working relationships with leaders of all units to facilitate positive outcomes for all internal/external customers. Maintains current knowledge of treatment modalities, medical studies, trends, and practices affecting the patients served. All duties and responsibilities of RT II. Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established CCHS and departmental safety practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors. Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of a CoArc approved School of Respiratory Therapy. Minimum of three years critical care experience required. Bachelor's degree required or actively enrolled in a degree program.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Maintains Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential. Maintains Current BLS Certification. Current AARC Member preferred. Respiratory Licensure in the state of practice required (Delaware, Maryland, etc.). This position pays between $38.22 and $52.55 based on experience. This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
