Job Description

Manatee Memorial Hospital seeks a Respiratory Therapist for full-time night shifts to deliver high-quality respiratory care in a fast-paced, technology-enabled environment. You will assess patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, administer treatments, manage ventilators and related equipment, and respond to emergencies. Working with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you'll document care in electronic records, support process improvements, and contribute to an inclusive, innovative culture focused on patient safety, outcomes, and continuous learning. Responsibilities Administer respiratory therapies, medications, and oxygen therapy per physician orders and protocols. Assess, monitor, and document patients' respiratory status and response to treatment using appropriate tools and EHR systems. Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain ventilators, Bi PAP/CPAP, and other respiratory equipment. Respond to respiratory emergencies, including rapid response and code situations, following hospital procedures. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust patient care plans. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home-care strategies. Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards for respiratory care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to process and technology enhancements on the night shift. Required Skills Mechanical ventilation management Respiratory therapy modalities (nebulizers, oxygen therapy, airway clearance) Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Patient assessment and monitoring Use of electronic health records (EHR) systems Operation and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment Emergency and code response procedures Infection control and safety protocols Pulmonary disease and physiology knowledge Patient and family education
