SUMMARY:
The Respiratory Care Practitioner skillfully administers respiratory care modalities based on the individual needs of the residents in accordance with physician orders, professional standards of care and center policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Cardiopulmonary resuscitation  Patient transportation (internal and external)  Drawing blood for arterial blood gas analysis and interruption  Aerolized drug administration  Oxygen therapy/humidity therapy  Continuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP/BiPAP)  Pulse oximetry  Specialized pulmonary function testing  Intermittent positive pressure ventilation (1PPB)  Incentive spirometry  Chest physiotherapy, airway clearance techniques and alternative airway maneuvers  Patient assessment and care planning  Participate in floor round monitoring  Operation of all equipment in accordance with department policy  Quality control of all equipment  Active participation in the departments Quality Assurance program, QAPI  Equipment disinfection  Participation and delivering in-service education  Apnea monitoring  Communication skills  Meter dose inhaler medication administration as indicated  Any other assignment as delegated by Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
 Completion of high school education or otherwise show ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RPT)  Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) 2  Physical assessment skills.  Knowledge of current standards of respiratory practice and of basic safety rules.  Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance as required.  Must be able to work weekend and overtime as required.  CPR certified
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT
 Frequent walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling.  Willing to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily, as needed.  Manual dexterity for manipulation of instruments and equipment.  Attend and participate in continuing educational programs.  Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.  Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, and outside agencies and to work cooperatively with other associates.  May be subject to infectious diseases, substances, contaminated articles, cuts, bruises, falls, odors, etc.  Must be able to function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with or without other personnel and co-workers.  Ability to remain calm and cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
 Understand, comply with, and promote rules regarding resident's rights.  Maintain an orderly, confidential, and safe work environment; in addition, to HIPPA guidelines.  Practice universal precautions at all times.  Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures.  Perform other duties as assigned.
