Job Description

Overview Bay Area Direct Client Care has an immediate opening for respiratory therapist at our medical group homes to service our medically complex individuals with tracheostomies and ventilators. We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of respiratory care practices, critical care procedures, and patient assessment techniques. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where patient safety and quality care are paramount. The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for providing advanced respiratory support, managing ventilators, and assisting with emergency response efforts across our two group homes located in close proximity. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy services to patients of all ages, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics, ensuring optimal respiratory function and patient comfort. Manage ventilator systems and other respiratory devices with precision, adjusting settings based on patient needs and physician orders. Conduct thorough patient assessments by monitoring vital signs, blood gases, and physiological parameters to inform treatment plans. Assist in airway management procedures such as intubation, extubation, and airway clearance techniques in emergency and routine settings. Respond swiftly to cardiac arrest emergencies by providing advanced airway management and initiating life-saving interventions in accordance with hospital protocols. Document all patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians specializing in pulmonology, nurse practitioners, nurses and home health aides to develop individualized treatment strategies. Maintain proficiency with medical equipment operation, including ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and other respiratory devices used in acute care environments. Participate in ongoing training related to hospital medicine standards, neonatal resuscitation procedures, trauma center protocols, and critical care practices to ensure up-to-date knowledge. Skills
MINIMUM 1 YEAR OF EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
Extensive knowledge of tracheostomies, ventilators, chest vest, cough assist Strong background in emergency medicine procedures including cardiac arrest response and airway management techniques preferred Proven experience with ventilator management and respiratory device troubleshooting within critical care settings. Familiarity with medical terminology related to pulmonology, anatomy, physiology, and acute care processes. Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for accurate documentation of patient data and treatment plans. Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments while demonstrating excellent patient care skills across inpatient and outpatient environments. Technical proficiency with medical equipment operation pertinent to respiratory therapy including oxygen delivery systems and ventilators. Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is preferred; familiarity with neonatal resuscitation procedures is advantageous. Strong communication skills necessary for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and educating patients or family members about respiratory health management. $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 12.0 - 36.0 per week
