Job Description
Wellstar Health System is seeking a part-time Night Respiratory Therapist II to deliver advanced, patient-centered respiratory care across our Georgia facilities. In this role, you will perform assessments, manage ventilators, administer therapies, and respond to respiratory emergencies in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. You will use advanced technology, follow evidence-based protocols, and support patient and family education, while working in a culture focused on compassion, safety, diversity, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Provide respiratory care therapies including oxygen, aerosol, and ventilator management for acute and chronic patients Perform assessments, develop care plans, and adjust treatments based on physician orders and patient response Administer and monitor arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and related diagnostic tests Respond to respiratory emergencies, including code blues and rapid response calls Educate patients and families on respiratory equipment, medications, and self-care techniques Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Ensure proper setup, calibration, and maintenance of respiratory therapy equipment Document treatments, assessments, and patient progress in the electronic medical record Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards in all clinical activities Support mentoring of junior therapists and students as needed Required Skills Respiratory therapy procedures Mechanical ventilation management Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Pulmonary function and respiratory diagnostics Airway management and emergency response Patient and family education Electronic medical record documentation Infection control and safety protocols Use and maintenance of respiratory equipment Interdisciplinary clinical collaboration
