Full Job Description Role Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist III provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. They manage ventilators, perform invasive and non-invasive procedures, and interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases. The role includes patient, family, and staff education, staff development, and participation in quality improvement projects. They serve as preceptors for new employees and students, promoting best practices and evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality patient care through assessment, collaboration, and therapy execution. Manage ventilators, airway devices, and perform respiratory procedures. Educate patients and support staff, fostering a team-oriented environment. Ensure safety and compliance with electronic documentation, medication safety, and performance improvement initiatives. Participate in professional development and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred). Current licensure and certifications including RCP, NBRC-RRT, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Minimum of two years' experience in critical care areas such as ICU, CVICU, NICU, or Emergency Department. Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills; ability to establish effective working relationships.
