A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description
Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care across our hospital network. In this role, you will assess patients, develop and implement respiratory care plans, manage ventilators, perform diagnostic tests, and respond to respiratory emergencies. You will collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff to deliver patient-centered care, educate patients and families, and ensure adherence to safety and infection-control standards. Responsibilities Assess patients and develop individualized respiratory care plans Administer respiratory treatments, therapies, and medications Manage and monitor ventilators and other respiratory equipment Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in code teams Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and home care Document care accurately in the electronic medical record Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards Support quality improvement and best-practice initiatives Required Skills Respiratory assessment and care planning Ventilator management Airway management and suctioning Medication and aerosol therapy administration Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Emergency response and code team participation Patient and family education Use of respiratory therapy equipment and EMR systems Infection control and safety practices Interdisciplinary team collaboration
