What they do
A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Work Schedule:
Per Diem, Day or Night shift, you will work at UW Health Swedish American Hospital 1401 E. - Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) Accredited Program for Respiratory Therapy. Required Work Experience
- 1 year At least one year experience working as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Preferred Licenses & Certifications
- Current Registration (RRT credential) from the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Required
- License from the State of Illinois as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (within 90 days of passing test for new grads). Required
- Current CPR certification. Required
- NRP certification. Preferred
- PALS certification required within two years of hire date.
