A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a Level I trauma center's night shift position requiring adult critical care and emergency department experience. Details Acute care hospital setting within the Respiratory Therapy department Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department patient populations Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1800-0630) Every other weekend required On-call required as needed for the department Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities Cerner EMR used for charting Requirements Minimum 1 year of experience required BLS and RRT certifications required Active Illinois license required at time of application (license required if applicable) Cerner charting experience required Experience with airway management devices including ET tube, tracheostomy, and oral/nasal suctioning Experience with extubation and intubation assist Experience with nebulizer therapy including hand held, T-piece, and trach collar Experience with oxygen therapy including bag and mask, ET tube, HFNC, T-piece, trach collar, and Venturi masks Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, high pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred Additional Information Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds Any solid color scrubs permitted First-time travelers will be considered Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
