Job Description

Position Summary Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, initiates and administers the full range of respiratory therapy modalities as outlined within the specifications of the Student RCP Permit. This includes applying clinical assessments and diagnostic results to the care plan of the patient. Job Responsibilities Responds to all medical emergency (Code Blue), maintaining airway, establishes ventilation and assists in performing cardiac compressions in accordance with standards for Adult, Pediatrics/Children, Newborns/Infants. Responsible for aerosol, humidification and therapeutic gas(es) for Adults. Responsible for the administration of prescribed routine respiratory treatments of all types on adults only. Explains planned therapy and/or diagnostics to the patient, significant other and/or family and its goals taking into account age, culture. Responsible for determining appropriateness of prescribed Respiratory Care Plan and recommend modifications where indicated based on patient response. Responsible for collecting and evaluating pertinent clinical data (or recommend additional data) to establish optimal patient therapeutic goals. Maintains attendance as an essential requirement of the position and as designated by hospital standards . Education/Experience High School Diploma Maintain CPR certification Current student in an approved Respiratory Therapy program. Must provide a current Indiana Respiratory Therapy Practitioner's Student Permit.
