What they do

A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

RESPIRATORY THERAPY STUDENTS TUITION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, initiates and administers the full range of respiratory care modalities. This includes applying clinical assessments and diagnostic results ot the care plan of the patient.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
: Student of an approved Respiratory Therapy program and one of the following: A) successful completion of the certification exam through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), B) current eligibility to sit for the certification exam and successful completion of an approved registry program. Requires current Indiana Respiratory Care Practitioner's Student Permit.
