A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Description:
Provides assessment, treatment, and monitoring of hospital patients with cardiopulmonary compromise. Conducts a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and is a technical and educational resource for patients, family members, and other members of the patient care team. Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general floor assignments, critical care, bronchoscopy assists, emergency room, code team, and ECGs.
Qualifications:
1+ years of recent experience Graduate of an accredited school BLS Certification ACLS Certification Active State License Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff members.
